Dicey, at thirteen, is the oldest of the four and she must guide and protect her younger siblings after her mother abandons them. There are serious elements of neglect and mental illness, but Dicey steps up to her responsibility and uses common sense and reasoning to keep her family hidden, together, and safe during their journey. But once they get there, will they be allowed to stay? You’ll have to read it to find out.
